The Navtech
velocity sensor is designed to measure the speed of a ship approaching
a berth and provide a visual indication to a pilot via a traffic
light system. Velocity can also be recorded via an RS232 connection
to a laptop.
The sensor is
designed to measure speed with high resolution and accuracy. It
is based on a millimetre wave radar design so that the measurement
is not effected by rain, fog or dust as with competing technologies.
The unit is battery powered and can be operated at the quayside
without an external power connection.
